Big PayPal Fundraising Campaign

› How brilliant is it when big influencers stand up and speak out for the world’s most vulnerable. A big PayPal fundraising campaign has been started by Boris, which will run until 31.03. to raise as much as possible to be able to finish the school campus for as many kids as possible. Boris will personally bring the money to Uganda and visit our campus on site and of course visit the families. We are very happy about this great action!

TPG and ApoNow donate 6000 euros to children’s aid project in Uganda

› Helping children to help themselves: Education is the best vaccine against poverty

Poverty makes people hopeless. „It is precisely this vicious circle that needs to be broken sustainably – through education,“ says Dr. Dominik Benner, Managing Partner of The Platform Group. This is precisely where the PMCO association in Uganda comes in with its project. TPG and ApoNow are supporting the initiative with a donation of 6,000 euros.

Education is the best vaccine against poverty and hopelessness – this is the motto of the Peace Memorial Christian Organization, PMCO, which is financed by contributions, donations and sponsorships. In the district of Mityana in Uganda, a large area was purchased for this purpose and a school – the only one in the entire region – was built.

The children of the PMCO aid program are cared for holistically – physically, emotionally and socially. In addition to attending school, including school clothing/materials and regular meals, this also includes loving attention and care from the staff. The development of a training company ensures that the students have a perspective after graduation.

„PMCO’s work is a model with a future, not just a drop in the bucket,“ said Thomas Engels, managing partner of ApoNow. „Through education, unemployment will decrease and with it poverty. The lives of all people in the Mityana district will change positively in the long term.“ ApoNow GmbH has already been supporting the aid project for some time through two sponsorships and donations.

The 6000 euros donated by ApoNow and The Platform Group, which now includes 3700 retailers from all sectors such as ApoNow and Schuhe24, will be invested in the construction of sanitary facilities, among other things.

An exciting time lies behind Thomas. In November he was in Uganda for a few days to visit our school campus and all the families.

Besides that, there were of course a lot of official business and meetings with the various people in charge. But still the fun was not missing, because a big Christmas party was celebrated with all sponsored children and their families. A delicious feast, which the children usually only get at special PMCO celebrations, music, dancing, painting and many games with our team, made the children’s eyes shine. In addition, there were again many colorful balloons, which also pleased the adults. An exuberant mood and joy, as it should be for a happy Christmas, was felt by all participants. At the same time, the principal of the private school evaluated the children’s homeschooling material that had been handed in and discussed further school support with the parents, so that at the end of the day all families could be released home satisfied.

When Thomas visited the site of PMCO’s school campus, he took a look at the enormous progress of the construction work. The further development of the campus was discussed and planned with the persons responsible for the school construction, so that the governmental approval can be available for the opening of the school. Thomas was also able to make several introductions to officials from the Mityana district to report on our work and to build relationships.

In the short time between state appointments and meetings, between Christmas celebrations and property appraisals, Thomas also had the opportunity to visit a few of our families in person. Their joy was immense when he stood in front of their humble homes and presented them with food and many greetings from Germany and Switzerland.

We are incredibly grateful for the many platforms that are used to raise awareness for the children of Uganda. Especially during the Christmas season, many companies show their solidarity with PMCO and donate generous sums or give incentives to help.

♥ A big thank you goes to foobar Agency from Munich, who made a huge dream of our school children come true. The complete playground with all playground equipment, basketball court and sandbox for our school campus was donated at once! Among other things, this is important in order to obtain government recognition for the school, as there are only full-day schools in Uganda.

COVID Update:

With schools closed in Uganda until January, we have been distributing Home School materials to our kids.
